What is Gesso?

Gesso is a base color to create a first primer layer for all craft projects made of MDF, wood, metal, fabric etc., on which further color processing takes place. It seals the surfaces so that the paint cannot penetrate directly into the surface of the material. White gesso provides a white base surface on which the actual "main color" comes into its own in full quality. Gesso is also available transparent and in black.
